Car share scheme

The SSAT has established a car-sharing scheme for staff and delegates attending this year's National Conference. Sign up online now ...

Why?

This year's conference theme is sustainability - here's your chance to consider how you can reduce your carbon footprint and help us create a sustainable event. The scheme, which is designed to reduce travel costs as well as congestion and pollution, is accessed online and enables you to share a car with fellow delegates, to Birmingham from any destination.

The site will let us know how much we're all saving, in terms of cash, distance travelled, carbon emissions and even in terms of how many trees could be saved!

How does it work?

You can register journey details for free and the system will tell you if anyone else is travelling from the same direction. It's then up to you to make contact through a secure email connection, and to arrange to share both the journey and the costs of travel.

When you first visit the site you'll be asked to sign up - it takes about five minutes to create your account. You can then register your own journey and start searching for matches.

The software behind the system has been provided by the specialist car-sharing company, liftshare, which has established more than 300 car-sharing schemes for communities across the UK.

What's in it for me?

  • Reduce the cost of travel and parking
  • Split the long drive with someone else
  • Meet and chat with fellow delegates from your area - an excellent networking opportunity
  • Help the environment by reducing carbon emissions
